Furniture for Man and Dog

The relationship between man and dog is getting increasingly more intense and interesting. Side by side, dog and man pioneered in space exploration – as a gesture of recognition NASA developed a fully equipped dog spacesuit – while back on earth dogs help us to find peace of mind. The domestic man-dog relationship seeks to signify that the ultimate uncertainty can be tamed as well: the freakishness of nature. Moreover, the relationship between man and dog is crystal clear: dog is completely dependent of, and unconditionally faithful to, its partner.

The dog has evolved from a family friend into a full-fledged family member. Dog's 'humanization' shows in a growing number of services and products. Nature's imperfections might be corrected through plastic surgery, illnesses and their consequences countered with an evergrowing array of medical treatments such as orthopaedic appliances or even chemotherapy. The market provides contemporary dogs with their own life insurance policy, wheelchair, glasses and/or cosmetics.

My contribution is a series of furniture for man and dog that allows room for intimacy.
